Caso: Tortura pelas Forças Australianas

Gostaríamos de comentar a declaração pública do Comandante das Forças Australianas na TVTL em 17 de Outubro 2007, às 830 da noite que – vieram a Quintal Bot para separar duas pessoas que estavam a lutar e que não agrediram a vítima Abílio Fátima.

Sobre isto, nós as vítimas destas acções queremos responder imediatamente às declarações públicas do Comandante da ForçaAustraliana:

1. Lamentamos grandemente a declaração do Comandante da Força Australiana porque temos ouvido muitas vezes estes argumentos falsos e mentiras para cobrirem actos criminosos contra as pessoas pequenas de Timor-Leste.

2. Se como ele afirma houve de facto uma luta entre membros da nosso comunidade, pedimos que o Comandante da Força indique quais foram os elementos criminosos porque na realidade foram as Forças Australianas quem atacaram brutalmente a vítima Abílio Fátima à noite.

3. Com base nos factos que foram divulgados acima, pedimos às autoridades (ao Parlamento Nacional, ao Estado, ao Governo e ao Tribunal de Recurso) para investigar este crime rapidamente para que rapidamente possa ser levado ao tribunal.

Case: Torture from Australian Forces

Date: Sunday, 14 October 2007, 1030 at night

Place: Quintal Bot

We would like to refer to the public statement from the Commander of the Australian Forces on TVTL on 17th of October 2007, at 830 in the evening that – they came to Quintal Bot to separate two people who were fighting and that they did not assault the victim Abilio Fatima.

On this, we as the victims of these actions wish to respond immediately to the Australian Force Commander’s public statements:

1. We greatly lament the statements by the Australian Force Commander because we have heard many times these false arguments and lies to cover up the criminal acts against we the little people of Timor-Leste.

2. If as he states there was in fact a fight between members of our community, we request that the Force Commander indicate who these criminal elements are because in reality it was the Australian Forces who brutally assaulted the victim Abilio Fatima in the nighttime.

3. Based on the facts which have been disclosed above, we ask the authorities (the National Parliament, The State, The Government and the Appeals Court) to investigate this crime quickly so that it can be taken to the courts quickly.
