On September 7, at the memorial complex Saur-Mogila, a mourning rally was held, timed to coincide with the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from the Nazi invaders.

The event was attended by DPR Head Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, Chairman of the Government Alexander Ananchenko, deputies, representatives of ministries and departments, residents of cities and districts of the Republic.

DPR Head Denis Pushilin congratulated the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic on the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Donbass.

“Every year on the eve of September 8, we gather here to once again relive those difficult moments that befell the mound, the legendary height of Saur-Mogila. As during the years of the Great Patriotic War, and more recently, in 2014, this height became a battlefield. And the current generation,

I am sure of it, is worthy of their legendary ancestors.

When gathering, we remember our heroes. The heroes who are buried here.

But we can safely say: they have protected their land, you and me, the future generations at the cost of their lives. Our duty is to remember and pass this memory on.

Climbing up the stairs, we saw how many young people have come here – caring, patriotic, holding portraits of heroes of past and present times in their hands.

Let’s commemorate the memory of the heroes who defended us, your Homeland at the cost of their lives, with a minute of silence,” the Head of State said.

In a comment to the press service of the People’s Council, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Bidyovka emphasized that the Liberation Day of Donbass from Nazi invaders is a special holiday for every resident of our region.

“We know for sure how high the price of a victory is. And we will never let anyone forget about the great feat of our countrymen. 

We are grateful to the defenders of Donbass of all times for having won the freedom of our land, protecting the lives of civilians. I am sure that future generations will carry this gratitude through the centuries, and the feat of the defenders of the Homeland will remain immortal,” the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council said.

As part of the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Donbass, those present laid flowers at the memory block with the carved names of the soldiers who died in the Saur-Mogila area during its assault in 1943, at the Eternal Flame and the graves of the defenders of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Commentary of Valery Skorokhodov regarding introduction of responsibility for glorification of collaboration and Nazism

The People’s Council passed a draft law providing for administrative and criminal liability for the rehabilitation and glorification of Nazism in first reading. Deputy of the DPR People’s Council Valery Skorokhodov told about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“We are adopting a bill banning the rehabilitation, glorification of Nazism and collaboration, as well as everything related to any units of the UPA, OUN and others and their symbols in the first reading. If 30 years ago in Ukraine it was forbidden and punishable by law, now there would be no glorification of Bandera.

In order to protect our Republic from something similar in the future, we adopt the aforementioned bill,” Valery Skorokhodov told reporters. We shall recall that in May 2015, the then President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko gave the OUN-UPA the status of “fighters for the independence” of Ukraine, and its members were entitled to social security.

Maxim Parshin urges to hold Poroshenko responsible for crimes committed against people of Donbass

Deputy of the DPR’s People’s Council Maxim Parshin stated in a commentary to the Donetsk News Agency that Poroshenko and those responsible for unleashing a civil war in Ukraine should answer for their crimes before justice. ʺPoroshenko and his accomplices – Turchinov, Kolomoisky and the Commander of the UAF Khomchak should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for all the crimes they committed against the residents of Donbass,ʺ the deputy said.

Maxin Parshin also noted that the Paramilitary groups of Ukraine, despite statements of the Ukrainian President Zelensky on ending this conflict in Donbass, continued shelling the territories of the DPR and increasing its intensity.

The parliamentarian made his statement during a meeting with personnel of a 2-bis mine of the Republican enterprise “Donbassuglerestructurizatsiya” in Gorlovka, where issues related to shelling by the Paramilitary groups of Ukraine were discussed. Representatives of mine management and personnel noted that shelling posed threats to the lives of mine’s personnel and prevented mine pumping and other necessary work. Maxim Parshin underlined in his statement that everything possible must be done to establish peace in Donbass and to impose a ceasefire.
