NATO Continues to Prepare for War with Russia

22.10.2016, Strategic Culture Foundation http://www.strategic-culture.org (Russia)

NATO uses any pretext to accuse Russia of harboring aggressive intentions. It has raised ballyhoo over the recent deployment of Iskander short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missiles to the Kaliningrad region.

Time and time again, the alliance reaffirms its bogus Russia narrative. “We see more assertive and stronger Russia that is willing to use force,” concluded NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg speaking at the round table in Passau, Bavaria on October 10.
At the same time, NATO is pushing ahead with its military "Schengen zone" in Europe.

"We are working to ensure that each individual soldier will not require a decision at

Ukrainian lies and provocations instead of reforms and combatting corruption

What are actually the authorities of Ukraine engaged in at the time of crisis? Is this combatting corruption or implementation of reforms, or maybe abolition of crime and securing of the Ukrainian citizens’ safety? No, all the resources and energy are targeted at rather blunt and belligerent propaganda on Internet instead. Interestingly, these are the European countries that are subject to this sort of activities and the money involved is European money actually.

Who Dropped a Nuclear Bomb on the Poles?/Кто сбросил атомную бомбу на поляков?

05.07.02016, Strategic Culture Foundation http://www.strategic-culture.org (Russia)

Every July Poland is rocked by internal debates about Ukraine’s historical responsibility for the 1943 Volhynia massacre, and 2016 is no exception.

The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) of Jarosław Kaczyński came to power mainly on promises to raise the topic of the massacre of the Polish population of Volhynia during the WWII by the butchers from the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) in Kiev. «The crimes committed against our compatriots by the UPA should be termed genocide. I will not permit any excuses for what happened during the most terrible era in our history», exhorted Jarosław Kaczyński during the heat of the election campaign.

However, his actions never went beyond promises. Like its predecessors in the Civic Platform party, the PiS refuses to declare July 11 as Kresy Martyrdom Remembrance Day. (Kresy is the name for the region of western Ukraine, western Belarus, and Lithuania that was once part of the Second Polish Republic. On July 11, 1943, at the height of a wave of violence committed by the UPA, 100 Polish villages and farmsteads were attacked by Stepan Bandera’s gangs.)

Instead of commemorating July 11, Jarosław Kaczyński proposes to move Martyrdom Day to

Warsaw’s double-edged gamble on Ukrainian nationalists/Двусмысленная ставка Варшавы на украинских националистов

Former Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski (he was officially replaced by Andrzej Duda on 6 August) has awarded members of the Union of Ukrainians in Poland (UUP), including its leader Piotr Tym, with the Knight’s Cross of Polonia Restituta and the Silver Cross of Merit. Komorowski did not fail to point out that those awarded had made a notable contribution to the development of Polish-Ukrainian relations. But what kind of contribution exactly?

Throughout its entire history, the Union of Ukrainians in Poland (founded in the 1950s and originally called the Ukrainian Sociocultural Association) has not once condemned the criminal acts of the OUN-UPA and Ukrainian SS divisions. UUP representatives have always supported the cult of OUN-UPA among Polish Ukrainians, denying the guilt of Ukrainian nationalists for the 1943 massacre of Poles in Volhynia. Moreover, the official publication of the UUP, Nashe Slovo, is financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In the 1990s, a UUP activist, a certain Vasil Vasiliv, called for help in returning ‘Ukrainian-ness’ to south-eastern areas of Poland in an article entitled «Lemkivshchyna at the Crossroads». The UUP is still working at this even now.

The Polish authorities, meanwhile, are turning a blind eye in the hope of deriving foreign policy dividends from the ideology of Ukrainian nationalism. For the gamble to definitely succeed, UUP members are being promoted to senior positions. Thus the parliamentary support group for

Poland – Ukraine: Will Territorial Demands Follow Restitution Claims?/Польша – Украина: сначала реституция, затем территории?

Poland will hold parliamentary election in October. No matter who comes to power, the issue of Eastern Kresy will probably continue to be in focus. The interest will be fueled by ongoing Ukrainian crisis. Kresy Wschodnie or Kresy («Eastern Borderlands», or «Borderlands») is a term that refers to the eastern lands that formerly belonged to Poland. These territories today lie in western Ukraine, western Belarus, as well as eastern Lithuania.

In the interbellum, the term Kresy roughly equated with the lands beyond the Curson line, suggested in December 1919 by the British Foreign Office as the eastern border for Poland. After the 1919-1921 war between Poland and the Soviet Russia Kresy became Polish. In September 1939, these territories were incorporated into the Soviet Union. Even though Kresy, or the Eastern Borderlands, are no longer Polish territories, the area is still inhabited by a significant Polish minority, and the memory of a Polish Kresy is still cultivated.

The attachment to the «myth of Kresy», the vision of the region as a peaceful, idyllic, rural land, has been an issue in Polish public discourse. «Restitution Kresy», a recently established organization, was created in April to deal with the return of Polish property in the Western Ukraine. Will Poland Train OUN Militants?/Скандал: будет ли Польша обучать боевиков ОУН?

The Poland's Defense Ministry says it plans to train about 60 Ukrainian army instructors this year, including NCOs of OUN battalion (OUN-the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists). The training sessions would take place in Poland in June, September and October. Several other NATO members are also joining the NATO program known as the Defense Education Enhancement Program - DEEP. Its aim is to bring Ukraine's forces up to the standards of the Western alliance. Tomasz Siemoniak, Polish Minister of National Defence, has already discussed the issue with General Mieczysław Gocuł, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces. 10 Ukrainian servicemen are tocome on June 29, with 20 more to follow in September and 30 in October.

Poles perceive the OUN as a terrorist organization involved in mass murder of civilians during WWII acting hand in hand with Ukrainian policemen and German fascists. OUN militants perpetrated assassinations of Polish politicians in the period between the two wars. The organization took part in the Volyn massacre in 1945 and attacks against Polish servicemen in late 1940s – early 1950s. Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski, a Polish Catholic priest, author and activist, is known for his uncompromised position on the policy of making advances to Ukrainian nationalists. According tohim, the Polish Minister of Defense desecrated the memory of those who lost lives in the fight against Ukrainian nationalists and terrorists. He called on the Minister to resign on moral grounds.

The plans to train Ukrainian nationalists have become public domain. The military rushed to

Wola Massacre and Polish Authorities: Another Case of Political Amnesia/Вольская резня. Свидетельство политической амнезии

Poland is suffering political amnesia. The condition gets acute any time one mentions the mass crimes committed against Polish nationals. There is a plethora of examples to prove the case. The Volyn massacre is the most illustrative one. Ukrainian nationalists brutally tortured and killed dozens of thousands of old men, women and children. For all that, the Polish government supports the successors of Stepan Bandera who have seized power in Ukraine.

There is another example – the pogroms in Wola that took place during the Warsaw uprising (Wola - a district of western Warsaw). German fascists killed around 60 thousand Poles in two days (August 5-6, 1944) - the largest single massacre in WWII.

Today the Polish authorities do the best to get around the details that led to the tragedy. A lot has been said in Poland about the Warsaw uprising. By and large it all boils down to denigrating Soviet soldiers who deliberately remained where they were as allowing the Wehrmacht time to regroup and put the insurgence down. It is said that, whatever Russians say about liberating Poland «Bolsheviks are even worse than Hitlerites», no matter German fascists killed Poles just because they were Slav people. That’s exactly what they did in Wola.

The reason Germans were so cruel towards Poles is an open secret. In their statements Nazi top

Ukrainian Nationalism Threatens Poland/Украинский национализм угрожает Польше

Vasyl Pavlyuk, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin, met the students of Maria Curie - Sklodowska Lublin University. Unexpectedly he was given a hard time. First, All-Polish Youth (Polish Młodzież Wszechpolska), a nationalistic Polish Youth Organization, held a conference near the University building. They said that meeting with Vasyl Pavlyuk was the same thing as meeting the supporters of Hitler, Himmler and other Nazi criminals. Then the protesters moved inside the University to see the Ukrainian Consulate General and raise the posters «Murderers! Shame! No Glory!»

The appointment of Vasyl Pavlyuk evokes concern among Poles. He is a member of ultra-right Svoboda political party. In 2011 he was a high standing official in Lviv to support a resolution which declared Bandera and Shukhevych national heroes. The city council deputies said

Tuchola: Polish Death Camp for Russians/Тухоль: польский лагерь смерти для русских

In early November a memorial to «the victims of Maidan» was suddenly erected on the Wilenski square, Warsaw, no matter the plans had envisioned the restoration of the Brotherhood in Arms Statue devoted to commemorate dozens of thousands of Red Army soldiers who lost their lives to liberate Poland from fascism in the days of WWII. The fact sparked a wave of indignation but it was not the desecration of the soldiers’ memory that caused it. Here is a message posted to Kresy.pl – «Maidan means a square in Ukrainian. Ukrainians made Poles come to maidan before they were slaughtered (in Volyn. – Author’s note). In some populated areas the swamps with remains of the victims are still called maidans».

Some time before that the plans to erect the memorial to Polish death camp victims (Red Army soldiers who died in 1922-23) in Kraków’s Rakowicki Cemetery had been cancelled…

To make clear what exactly happened to the victims in question I offer to have a look at what happened in the second largest concentration camp that was located in the vicinity of Tuchola. The camp was built during the First World War. In 1919 the place became a prison for the soldiers of Ukrainian and Belarusian formations, the civilians who had sympathy for the Soviet government and the interned officers of the White Army.

In December 1920 Polish Red Cross worker Natalia Kreiz Velezhinska said the prisoners lived dug-outs with stairs going down. The interned

Prospects for Ukraine’s Partition. Warsaw to Waste no Time Rushing to the Party/Варшава боится опоздать к разделу украинского пирога

The story is getting more confirmations. The rumors launched by Radoslaw Sikorski, the speaker of Polish parliament, who accused Moscow of offering Poland parts of Ukraine, were concocted by Poles themselves with a distinct goal in mind – to feel out the reaction on the idea of Ukraine’s partition. The parliamentary opposition wanted the speaker to resign but lost the vote with only 146 MPs out of 434 to support the motion. Sikorski realized that he jumped the gun and his statements were negatively affecting the government plans, so he changed the tactics. Speaking at Harvard University on November 20 he told listeners that Poland was different from Ukraine because it resolutely stepped on the way of reform to become part of transatlantic structures. What he actually meant was that only Poland could lead Ukraine – the whole of it or divided – in the direction the West wanted it to go. Moscow stood in the way. So the Western military alliance was to go back to the mission it was founded for - the deterrence of Russia.

Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Shetina joined Sikorski making botched statements. In an interview to Gazeta Wyborcza he compared the relationship of Warsaw and Kiev with the relations between European countries and their colonies in Africa. The Minister made comments on the «Normandy Format» (Germany-France-Russia-Ukraine) gas transit resumption talks in Milan. The US and Poland did not like the fact that they were not invited to take part in the event. Summing up the
