Donetsk, Sep 17 – DAN. The Ukrainian leadership has to start fulfilling the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements instead of “reinventing the wheel,” the Donetsk People’s Republic Foreign Minister, DPR envoy to the Minsk talks Natalia Nikonorova told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“Over the past few days, we have heard many resounding statements by Ukrainian authorities who show the wonders of ingenuity and cunning in the hope to avoid the implementation of the Minsk Agreements,” Nikonorova said. “However, no matter how much Kiev wants to change things, Ukraine had and still has quite definite and clearly stated Donbass settlement obligations, confirmed by the international community.”

Sergey Lavrov: Dificilmente haverá qualquer melhora em breve, já que se pode dizer qualquer coisa da confusão em que estão nossas relações, menos que seja fácil. Não por nossa culpa. Afinal, relações bilaterais demandam esforços recíprocos. Temos de nos encontrar no meio do caminho.

A Rússia está pronta para andar nessa direção, como já dissemos em diversas ocasiões. Partimos da premissa de que Rússia e EUA têm uma responsabilidade especial. Somos as duas maiores potências nucleares, membros fundadores das Nações Unidas e membros permanentes do Conselho de Segurança da ONU. A cooperação entre nossos dois países é fundamental para garantir estabilidade e previsibilidade nos assuntos internacionais. No entanto, nem tudo depende de nós. Sergey Lavrov: An improvement will hardly materialise any time soon, since it is anything but easy to sort out the mess that our relations are in, which is not our fault. After all, bilateral relations require reciprocal efforts. We have to meet each other half way.

Russia is ready to move in this direction, as we have said on a number of occasions. We proceed from the premise that Russia and the United States bear special responsibility. We are the two largest nuclear powers, the founding members of the United Nations and permanent members of its Security Council. Cooperation between our two countries is key to ensuring stability and predictability in international affairs. However, not everything depends on us. It takes two to tango, as the saying goes.
