BRICS, China, Hong Kong/London violates commitment of Sino-British Joint Declaration

For some time now, the British government has been making irresponsible remarks about Hong Kong, claiming that under the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, Britain still holds responsibility for Hong Kong. London has repeatedly accused China of violating the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the promise of "one country, two systems." The US and other Western countries have also lent their support to London. The recent G7 summit also quoted the Sino-British Joint Declaration and made groundless statements.

What contradicts the Sino-British Joint Declaration is what the UK is doing today. To put it more bluntly, it is the UK, not China, which is really in breach of the 1984  document.

As is known to all, Hong Kong was under British colonization for a long period. Before it returned to China, the two countries signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration Which was meant to manage the transition of Hong Kong from British to Chinese rule, not to allow Britain to maintain its influence on Hong Kong after its return to China. 

In the joint declaration, China promised "one country, two systems" and a high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong. These commitments were later fully enshrined in the Basic Law. A special committee

Brazil’s shift to the right-wing has been lauded by the US, which is still not over its penchant for foreign meddling in Latin America. It was like a day from the 1970s. Except the close encounter between a Russian SU-27 fighter-interceptor and a US Air Force RC-135V intelligence-gathering plane and a Swedish Gulfstream IV spy plane occurred on June 10. The incident, which occurred within Polish maritime airspace near the airspace of the Russian Kaliningrad region, resulted in diplomatic protests being lodged with the Russian Foreign and Defense ministries by the US embassy in Moscow.

The air encounter took place on the second day of the Baltops-2019 NATO naval and air exercise in the Baltic Sea, in which the United States, Sweden (a non-NATO member), and sixteen other nations, including non-NATO member Finland, were taking part. Not taking part in the exercise were NATO members Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, Canada, Czechia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Iceland, Croatia, and Montenegro. The exercise was scheduled for June 9-21.

Situation in Ukraine has been leading up to this for a long time and it has finally happened. A default was formally registered on 23 September – the day that the European Committee of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) adopted its resolution on Ukraine confirming the country’s technical default.

The United Nations Security Council voted on July 29 whether to set up an international tribunal to prosecute those suspected of bringing down Malaysia Airlines MH17 over Ukraine last year (1).

11 Council members supported the resolution with three of them abstaining (China, Venezuela and Angola) and one (the Russian Federation) voting against. (2) The Russia’s refusal to support the proposal had been known in advance. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has discussed the issue on a number of occasions with the Russian President on the phone and each time Vladimir Putin called this proposal «premature and counterproductive» or described it as «inexpedient». (3) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian UN Ambassador Vitaliy Churkin had said the same thing.

As far as I can remember, this was the first time the decision of Russia to veto a UN Security Council’s resolution had been announced and repeatedly confirmed at such a high level before the document was submitted for consideration. Then what was the rationale behind putting the draft resolution on MH17 special tribunal to vote despite Russia’s objections?

Petro Poroshenko never stops calling himself a president of peace since the day he took office. Yury Lutsenko, an MP and the leader of Bloc of Petro Poroshenko party, reported that the Ukraine’s National Bank started the printing press. Allegedly it went ahead after Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk gave his approval. Few people paid attention to this information. Soon Yulia Timoshenko confirmed the news (she is an opposition leader). She said the uncontrolled emission without back-up should be stopped. In January the emission rate was 31billion hryvnias.

The issue hit the agenda to be picked up for discussion by politicians and journalists.

The Prime Minister is in a tight spot. The money received as the first tranche in mid-March (5 billion US dollars) is spent. There is no certainty about the next tranche to be released (the talks on debt restructuring have become stymied). The government has no money for social spending (pensions, wages etc.). It all left Yatsenyuk little choice but to start running the printing press.

All of a sudden the issue came to the fore. It looks very much like a plot to do away with the incumbent Prime Minister. The printing press was started to run as far back as last year. In late May 1945 Josef Stalin ordered Marshall Georgy Zhukov to leave Germany and come to Moscow. He was concerned over the actions of British allies. Stalin said the Soviet forces disarmed Germans and sent them to prisoners’ camps while British did not. Instead they cooperated with Germans troops and let them maintain combat capability. Stalin believed that there were plans to use them later. He emphasized that it was an outright violation of inter-government agreement that said the forces surrendered were to be immediately disbanded. The Soviet intelligence got the text of secret telegram sent by Winston Churchill to Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery, the commander of British forces. It instructed to collect the weapons and keep them in readiness to give back to Germans in case the Soviet offensive continued.

Two recent high-profile suicides - one in France and another in Argentina - are very similar. A successful and well-liked French police chief by the name of Helric Fredou was found dead after launching an investigation into the terrorist attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo weekly. The document had to be revised by the end of 2014 in response to the growing pressure exerted on Russia by the West after Moscow refused to recognize the legitimacy of the coup in Ukraine. A military doctrine offers no spectrum of responses to isolated threats but rather provides guidance on countering the long-term trends undermining the country’s security. The revised version of the doctrine describes the following factors that pose threats to Russia:

– the growing military potential of NATO and its expansion bringing the alliance’s military infrastructure close to the borders of the Russian Federation;

Despite international agreements that regulate activities in the field of biological research, on this subject, just as on the subject of chemical weapons, the US remains a US of double standards. It is not reliably known what kind of research, especially research related to deadly viruses, is being carried out by the American military, or where.

Following the terrorist attacks in New York in September 2001, biological threats were used to frighten America. The situation with the sending of letters containing powder with spores of anthrax was blown up to the level of public hysteria. It happened approximately a week after the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, which created the illusion that there was a link between the two events, united by the theme of the threat of ‘Islamic fundamentalism’. Ten years later, in 2011, declassified FBI documents showed that the spores of anthrax were developed at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.

In ten years, the number of American laboratories engaged in developing ways to protect against bioterrorism, according to the official version, has grown from 20 to 400. Secret biological centres have appeared in Africa and Latin and America, biological laboratories of unknown function have opened in Ukraine and Georgia, and it is also planned to open a biological centre in Kazakhstan in 2015. The majority of these activities are being
