Brics Was Created as a Tool of Attack: Lula

Former Brazilian leader wishes emerging economies were closer, recalls Obama ‘crashing’ Copenhagen climate meet

In a wide-ranging, two-hour-plus, exclusive interview from a prison room in Curitiba in southern Brazil, former Brazilian president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva re-emerged for the first time, after more than 500 days in jail, and sent a clear message to the world.

Amid the 24/7 media frenzy of scripted sound bites and “fake news”, it’s virtually impossible to find a present or former head of state anywhere, in a conversation with journalists, willing to speak deep from his soul, to comment on all current political developments and relish telling stories about the corridors of power. And all that while still in prison.

The first part of this mini-series focused on the Amazon. Here, we will focus on Brazil’s relationship with BRICS and Beijing. BRICS is the grouping of major emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India and China – that formed

BRICS, China, Hong Kong/London violates commitment of Sino-British Joint Declaration

Published: 2019/8/29 20:28:40, EDITORIAL Global Times (China) http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1163082.shtml

For some time now, the British government has been making irresponsible remarks about Hong Kong, claiming that under the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, Britain still holds responsibility for Hong Kong. London has repeatedly accused China of violating the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the promise of "one country, two systems." The US and other Western countries have also lent their support to London. The recent G7 summit also quoted the Sino-British Joint Declaration and made groundless statements.

What contradicts the Sino-British Joint Declaration is what the UK is doing today. To put it more bluntly, it is the UK, not China, which is really in breach of the 1984  document.

As is known to all, Hong Kong was under British colonization for a long period. Before it returned to China, the two countries signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration Which was meant to manage the transition of Hong Kong from British to Chinese rule, not to allow Britain to maintain its influence on Hong Kong after its return to China.

In the joint declaration, China promised "one country, two systems" and a high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong. These commitments were later fully enshrined in the Basic Law. A special committee

29.08.2019 15h37, Diário do Povo Online (China) http://portuguese.people.com.cn/n3/2019/0829/c309814-9610506.html

BRICS, China/West will shed no tears for Hong Kong

Published: 2019/8/26 21:33:40, EDITORIAL Global Times (China) http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1162749.shtml

What on earth happened in Hong Kong over the past weekend? Violence has not only returned to the city, but also escalated.

However, the opposition forces in Hong Kong have been making high-profile accusations against the police for using water cannons. Several Hong Kong police drew their guns and one fired a warning shot on Sunday. Yet all that was portrayed as so-called higher violence from the police. Western media continued to cater to the opposition's claims, describing the warning shot as a sign of escalating street conflicts there, downplaying the fact that rioters' attacks against Hong Kong police are becoming fiercer.

Looking carefully at the videos, one can see a definite clue: A large swath of thugs smashed police cars while several police were inside the vehicles. The police officers who alighted from them were besieged and chased by the rioters. It was during this time that the police raised their guns and one of them fired a warning shot.

When police faces violent mobs, is firing warning shots out of self defense a restraint move or a "violent" one? If the same situation happens in New York or London, how would local police react?

So far, the clashes in Hong Kong have not led to any deaths, because police

The Hong Kong government will establish a communication and dialogue platform to hold talks with protesters, said Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor at a press conference on Tuesday.

Lam said she believes the mechanism will be a responsible response to protesters' concerns.

‘I GO TO YALE, YOU GO TO JAIL’ MOCKS AGITATOR FOLLOWERS

In the past two months, the radical protesters in Hong Kong, who consist of many young people and students who are infatuated with the West, have continuously showed their extremism through cyber bullying and real violence by provoking other residents of the city and people from the mainland, which prompted local experts and even many young students who disagree with them to speak out.

"I go to Yale, you go to jail" is a comment spreading in Chinese social media to mock young radical protesters in Hong Kong willing to be used by radical and foreign forces. The mockery was in reference to Nathan Law Kwun-chung, a main agitator behind the Hong Kong riots, who has left Hong Kong to study at Yale University, while calling on many of his peers to remain on the streets.
Not only Law, but other masterminds, including opposition politicians Martin Lee Chu-ming and Claudia Mo Man-ching, have refused to send their own children to stand with protesters and conduct unlawful activities. Some of their children have been living overseas or studying at universities in Western countries.

Since June 9, Hong Kong police have arrested 748 protesters for attacking police and many of them are young people.

This is truly sad because many ignorant and naïve young students are obviously being used by agitators and some US politicians who are trying to put pressure on China during the China-US trade negotiations, said

14.08.2019 09h36, Diário do Povo Online (China)  http://portuguese.people.com.cn/n3/2019/0814/c309814-9605868.html

BRICS, Russia/Cold War 2.0 and the Buzz Around Russia’s New Ultra-Heavy Drone

August 10, 2019, Strategic Culture Foundation (Russia) https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2019/08/10/cold-war-2-and-buzz-around-russia-new-ultra-heavy-drone/

The Cold War perception of space travel as being very human-oriented with man conquering Mars to build the Capitalist or Communist cities of tomorrow has been completely replaced by the reality that drones are much better suited for space exploration than humans. When it comes to military aviation the situation is similar. The strongest and weakest point of any pilot is his brain, which cannot stand the massive gravitational forces that ultra-modern fighter jets are capable of creating. So it is no surprise that at some point the US, Russia and China will unveil a drone big enough and capable enough to replace any current generation bombers and fighters removing the limitations of the human body’s weakness to big gravity from military aviation. And, as of a few days ago the Russians did just that.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation just released video to the public of a test of their new massive pilotless aircraft called “The Hunter”. This demonstration was

BRICS, China/Washington Post: China saiu vitoriosa do G-20

(U-turn? Donald Trump suggests he would allow #Huawei to once again purchase U.S. technology! #HuaweiFacts).

BRICS, Russia/Vladimir Putin’s news conference following the G20 summit

June 29, 2019, 10:50, President of Russia http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news (Russia) http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/60857

Following the G20 summit, the President of Russia answered journalists’ questions.

Osaka, Japan

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon. Let us begin. Go ahead, please.

Question: Good afternoon, Mr President. We would like to ask, since I am the first to ask a question, about your personal results of the summit. There was a lot of scepticism prior to it, coming both from other leaders and expressed by you, concerning the possible results of the summit. Was the scepticism justified? What are the outcomes for world trade and the global economy?

And the second question, if I may: what were Russia’s objectives here at the G20, and were the results achieved?

Vladimir Putin: There was certain scepticism, it is true, and not from me alone. Yet on the whole the G20 summit has proved its relevance, we have to admit that, and it was effective in all the major areas of work. The result has been achieved. I think we can congratulate the Japanese presidency on that. Japan did a lot for the summit’s success, and its efforts paid off.

I would like to single out four major fields where the needed agreements have been reached. It is true that there were no breakthrough decisions. However, all the participants reconfirmed their commitment to continue efforts to improve the global trade system, including work to reform the WTO. The very fact that everyone confirmed the need for the process and reaffirmed their readiness to work along the lines is a positive development in itself.

Positions have been coordinated, except for the United States, which always has a special opinion. In fact, the US
